The Shop Closes Its Doors

leave a comment

If you didn’t notice already, my web-shop has closed its doors on June 30th, 2010. It has been an amazing seven years running my shop online, and I wanted to say THANK YOU to all my wonderful customers for all the support…

I hope to make my return to the indie business scene when I’m back in the US, and hopefully with new amigurumi patterns to share.

As for my existing patterns, those are still available. As is The Misfit Bunny book through the Blurb bookstore.

6th Annual SuperNaturale Scarf Drive

leave a comment

For the past six years, SuperNaturale has hosted a winter hat and scarf drive. All items are donated to Sanctuary for Families, an organization dedicated to the safety, healing, and self-sufficiency of battered women and their children.

As always, I will be joining in to participate for the scarf drive. It’s for a good cause, and I highly encourage you all to join in as well. Knit and crochet hats & scarves are accepted, and need to be sent in by December 10th, 2008, just in time for the holidays.

Mail to:

Below are two of my favorite scarf patterns, which are super easy & quick to knit.

Lucky 13 Scarf (kpixie.com)
I cannot stress enough how much I love this pattern. The first time I knit this scarf, I knit using Paton’s Classic Wool Merino in a lovely shade of green. It was received by the lovely Miho Hatori when I went to see her perform live at Blue Lamp in Sacramento a year ago.

Drop Stitch Scarf
A classic pattern that can be memorized after the first read through. This scarf knits up well using nearly any yarn and needle combination.

Cast on any number of stitches, depending on how wide you want your scarf. I usually cast on between 13-20 stitches.

Knit four rows (garter stitch).
*k1, yo twice**, repeat across.
*k1, drop yo stitches**, repeat across.

Repeat until length of scarf is achieved, ending with four rows in garter stitch and then bind off.

Mix it up if you get bored, knitting more or less rows of garter stitch.

Denise knit these adorable little pumpkins in time for Halloween using the Curly Purly Pumpkin Pattern, available for free (with donations) from curlypurly.com. Super cute! I want to knit some up as well, but unfortunately, I seem to have lost my DPNs!

Scrunchable Scarf

Scrunchable Scarf

I really loved the Scrunchable Scarf posted at i love lemons, and decided to use this simple pattern to use up a skein of black acrylic yarn I had sitting in my stash.  The scarf came out soft, and I really like how the ribbing turned out.  Definitely saving this pattern for future use.
