Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum
The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, which is only a few minutes walk away from Shin-Yokohama Station, is a great place to go to try different regional ramen dishes without having to travel far. There are several shops located within the museum, serving Sapporo, Asahikawa, Fukushima, Tokyo, Yokohama, Wakayama, Hakata, and Kumamoto style ramen. It costs 300 yen to enter the museum. Once inside, you line up at the shop of your choice and choose your ramen and toppings from a ticket machine and pay the appropriate fee. The nice thing about the shops is that they offer half-size bowls of ramen for a few hundred less, so you won’t get as full and can try many kinds of ramen!
It was my second time to visit the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, but I still haven’t tried all the different shops. Our favorites include these two:
region
Yamagata
soup
category/miso
basic seasoning/soybean paste
ingredients/chiken,pork,seafoods,ginger
region
Hokkaido
soup
category/miso
basic seasoning/soybean
ingredients/chikens,pork,ginger,garlic
After filling up on ramen, you can also grab dessert from the small stand on the first floor which sells vintage style popsicles. Or, you can enter the small bar and get Hokkaido soft cream. It’s not vanilla flavor, but actually straight up “milk” flavor. It is amazingly delicious! If I hadn’t been so full, I would’ve ordered two!
