The Lost Blogs #23
My friend invited us to a local flea market in the town of Fukuroi. I wasn’t expecting much when we went, but I was surprised to find out that the flea market was more like neighborhood garage sale meets farmer’s market. Goods and food were being sold by both local citizens as well as nearby local shops.
I picked up a lot of TOTALLY UNNECESSARY but fun goodies for cheap:
- Cheshire cat x2!! 100 yen
- Cubic Disney bag, 100 yen
- Wind-up Japanese McDonald’s employee, 10 yen
- Jiggly C-3PO, 10 yen
- (I also bought a McDonald’s Grimace toy for Nick for 50 yen)
- (The Astroboy puzzle and Hawaiian leis were a free giveaway from my friend Josh)
Here, the kids are having fun building with and playing with cardboard boxes. They could play while waiting for free haircuts (donations were being accepted).
You could also meet this pink bunny.
And you could enjoy crafting!! This is my friend Chizu. I swear she spent about two hours sitting at this booth putting together a dried flower and rock arrangement for her home.
But, this in my hands, was by far the best score at the flea market, and by far the best 400 yen I have ever spent in my life.
At the bottom of this cup was a piece of chocolate cake. Layered on top were 1 scoop of frozen yogurt, and 1 scoop of raspberry sorbet. Fresh fruits (pineapple, strawberry) and a macaron as toppings. Yummy!
